New Amazon Kindle Fire Tablets
Amazon today sent out invitations to the media for a press conference scheduled on September 6. While the company did not specify as to what the conference would address, it is widely believed that the conference will be used to unveil Amazon new generation of Kindle Fire tablets.
According to unconfirmed reports that have been circulating for some time, Amazon is expected unveil and updated 7-inch slate and a substantially larger 10-inch tablet that it has been working on for over a year.
What's On the Docket?
The 7-inch Fire 2 is rumored to have a higher-resolution screen than the current version: 280 x 800 up from 1024 x 600 . Amazon has supposedly added a camera and possibly a video-out port. This might help it compete better against the recently-released Google Nexus 7.
The 10-inch model will be Amazon's first tablet of this size. It will reportedly include the same additions as its smaller sister model, but its screen resolution remains a mystery.
There has been no word yet on whether there will be significant enhancements to the Fire's operating system. The original model, which debuted a year ago, runs a very heavily modified version of Android 2.3.
